Watch for traffic as State Street retaining wall project begins - A drilling subcontractor is beginning work this week on the 400 block of East State Street for a large retaining wall project near the History Center and Gateway Center building. Sidewalk closures, bike lane closures, and a loss of some parking spaces are likely.
That siren you hear is Cornell testing its emergency notification system - Early Wednesday afternoon, Cornell University is conducting a test of its emergency mass notification systems. Sirens on campus will be heard around Ithaca as the test is conducted at 12:10pm.
Water work will close a lane of Route 96 on Monday - The City of Ithaca says crews will be installing new water service to a building on Cliff Street, aka NYS Route 96 on Ithaca's west hill. The 800 block will be reduced to one lane of alternating traffic for most of Monday, October 22.
Detour: 300 block of Dryden Road closed in Collegetown - The City of Ithaca says work began this morning to patch and repair the roadway following water main work earlier this year. The 300 block of Dryden Road is closed to all traffic through Thursday.

Bike, walk, and roll, but don’t drive: Southside streets closed this Sunday for car-free Streets Alive fair - North Cayuga Street, which runs from the heart of Downtown Ithaca north through Fall Creek towards Stewart Park, and West Court Street from Cayuga Street to GIAC, will be closed Sunday afternoon for "Streets Alive!" from Boynton Middle School to GIAC, from 1-5pm on May 1st.
East Upland Road closed for water service work - The Village of Cayuga Heights says East Upland Road will be closed this Thursday and Friday for water service work, between Hanshaw Road and Triphammer Road.
City closing Buffalo Street this Thursday after bus drop-off - The City of Ithaca says the 200 block of West Buffalo Street will be temporarily closed “to complete a storm pipe crossing as part of the Albany Street Reconstruction Project.”
