Rare holiday-week game for Big Red Hockey against visiting Canisius

For years, Cornell men’s ice hockey has played a holiday-week invitational tournament in Estero, Florida, but with that series ended, the Big Red had an opening on their schedule for a year-end home contest against a non-league opponent, the Canisius College Golden Griffins.

The #20 Golden Griffins are atop the Atlantic Hockey charts, having won seven of their last eight games for a 10-5-1 record through the first half of the season. Ranked #5 midway through, Cornell has a 10-2 record, including a demoralizing home loss against Clarkson that marked the only loss on home ice this fall.

The Big Red were last in action on the road at Miami University of Ohio at the very beginning of December, splitting the pair of games with a 2-1 loss followed by a 4-0 shutout win.

Saturday’s 4pm game at Lynah Rink should have plenty of tickets available at cornellbigredtickets.com or at the ticket office. Cornell will next host Princeton and Quinnipiac for a pair of ECAC contests next Friday and Saturday nights, with both games at 7pm.
