Looking for ham and turkey and all those winter root veggies for Christmas and New Year celebrations? Grab some local produce in Downtown Ithaca and hit Press Bay Alley on Thursday afternoon for their December Holiday Farmers Market, co-hosted with the Finger Lakes Meat Project.
From 4:30-7:30pm on December 21, several local farms, bakers, chefs, and other food and drink producers will be selling items to round out your holiday meals, and there will be crafters with last-minute gifts. The market will be set up to take EBT payments.
Bottomland farm says they’re bringing pasture-raised pork, chicken, rabbit, and quail and chicken eggs, as well as chicken feet, necks, gizzards, and hearts for soup.
The Youth Farm Project has currant-jalapeño jam for sale, “as well as an abundance of potatoes and onions,” and Stick and Stone Farm has fresh winter veggies on hand.
Other vendors include Wide Awake Bakery, Laughing Goat Fiber, Littletree Orchards, Ithaca Honey Works, Bandwagon Farm Brewery, Black Pearl Creamery, Mama Said Hand Pies, Crosswinds Farm & Creamery, and OmNomNomelettes.
Press Bay Alley is a small micro-retail plaza on West Green Street, a block west of City Hall. There is metered street parking available, free after 6pm, or hourly parking in the Cayuga Street or Green Street parking garages.
