Ithaca-area holiday dining – Who’s open and closed for the upcoming holiday weekends?

Where can you dine in and around Ithaca and Tompkins County over the upcoming holiday weekends? As always, there will be a few eateries open over the Christmas and New Year holidays, and we’ve got details on when restaurants will be open and closed. We’ve used bold text to highlight eateries open for at least one of the holidays.

If you’d like to enjoy a free holiday meal, the Southside Community Center is holding a Puerto Rican Party from 5-8pm on December 23rd, the Salvation Army has a Brothers & Sisters Table at 3pm on December 24th, and Loaves & Fishes is hosting a Holiday Dinner from 12-1pm on Christmas Day, December 25th, at St. John’s Church at 210 North Cayuga Street.

Agava on Ithaca’s east hill will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, open New Year’s Eve with live music by the Fall Creek Brass Band, and closed January 1st through 4th. They’ll reopen January 5th for dinner only, and return to their full schedule on Monday, January 8th.

Baked cookie delivery is closed December 18th to January 18th.

Collegetown’s Carriage House Cafe will be closing for a winter vacation after brunch on Sunday, December 17th, and reopening on Saturday, January 19th. The Loft will be open and will have full bar service for a few specific events in the interim, such as a Solstice Dance Party with Rose & The Bros from 7-10pm on Thursday, December 21st, and a Board Games & Brews Cancer Research Benefit from 7pm-Midnight on January 13th.

The Coal Yard Cafe on Maple Ave on east hill will be closed Christmas Eve and remaining closed for a vacation for a few weeks.

Collegetown Bagels downtown cafe is open daily at 6:30am, closing at 9pm on December 23rd and 8pm on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, then open until 8pm on the 26th-28th and 7pm the 29th through New Year’s Eve. They’re closed on New Year’s Day. Their East Hill Plaza location is also closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but open until 5pm on Christmas Eve, 7pm the 26th through 30th, then closing at 6pm on New Year’s Eve. CTB’s original Collegetown location is closed December 23rd through New Year’s Day.

Denny’s in Ithaca’s southwest is open 24/7, and will be open over the holiday weekends.

The Ithaca Ale House will have their kitchen open from 11am-2pm on Christmas Eve, and the bar will be serving drinks until 4pm. They’ll also be closed New Year’s Eve and for the days that follow for their annual week of cleaning.

Ithaca Bakery west end location on Meadow Street is open until 7pm on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, open until 8pm on New Year’s Eve, and open 8am-4pm on New Year’s Day. Their Triphammer Marketplace location is open until 5pm on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, open until 6pm on New Year’s Eve, and open 8am-4pm on New Year’s Day.

Jack’s Collegetown Grill will be open reduced hours from 11am-11pm from December 18th until January 19th, except that they’re closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

Joe’s Restaurant is open Christmas Day from 1-8pm.

The Lincoln Street Diner will be closing at 11am on Saturday, December 23rd, and taking a few days off before reopening for their normal hours on December 28th. They’ll be closed on New Year’s Day.

Ling Ling Garden is open on Christmas Day.

Loco Cantina and Luna Inspired Street Food in Collegetown are closing from December 23rd through January 11th for a seasonal cleaning.

Luna Inspired Street Food downtown will be open from 11am-11pm from December 18th until January 19th, except that they’ll be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. They’ll be open until 10pm on New Year’s Eve.

Northstar Public House is holding a New Year’s Day brunch, with a free glass of prosecco for everyone in a party with a reservation.

Papa John’s Pizza is open 9am-9pm on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, and open 9am-1am on New Year’s Eve and 9am-midnight on New Year’s Day.

The Plantation is closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, but open New Year’s Eve with a special surf & turf menu and DJ K Dawg spinning the tunes, with a free champagne toast at midnight.

Red’s Place is closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but open New Year’s Eve and opening just for dinner at 4pm on New Year’s Day.

The Rook is offering a three-course prix-fixe New Year’s Eve dinner with an optional beverage pairing. They are usually closed on Sundays and Mondays, and over the holidays they’ll be closed December 24th-26th, open the 27th-31st, and then closed for vacation January 1st-8th. They’ll reopen January 9th.

Sal’s Pizzeria is open 11am-5pm on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, open 11am-7:30pm on New Year’s Eve, and open 4-8pm on New Year’s Day.

The Seabring Inn in Newfield is open Christmas Eve until 9pm, closed on Christmas, and open their usual hours on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Shortstop Deli on Seneca Street in Downtown Ithaca is open 24/7, and will be open through the holidays.

Simeon’s is open Christmas Eve from 11am-8:30pm, closed Christmas Day and December 26th, then open for brunch and dinner on New Year’s Eve until 10pm and brunch and dinner on New Year’s Day until 9pm.

Spring Buffet in Ithaca’s southwest is open on Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

The Inn at Taughannock has a Christmas Celebration and dinner on December 23rd, as well as dinner, dancing, and music on New Year’s Eve with The Overrated performing live.

Viva Taqueria and Cantina will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, reopening December 26th at 11am.

ZaZa’s Cucina has a Great Gatsby themed New Year’s Eve planned, with a Roaring ’20s menu followed by dancing and live music from Thru Spectrums.

It’s beyond the holidays, but we thought you might want to know that our friends at the Finger Lakes Cider House are holding a Pop-Up Sunday Brunch (complete with beverage pairings) on January 7th! Make reservations now.

Collegetown’s 7-Eleven store (formerly Wilson Farms) is open 24/7, and will be open through the holidays.

GreenStar Natural Foods Market’s new Collegetown store is open 11am-8pm through December 23rd, then closed December 24th through January 1st. Their west end store and Dewitt Mall location are open 7am-6pm on Christmas Eve, closed Christmas Day, open 7am-6pm on New Year’s Eve, and closed New Year’s Day.

P&C Fresh on Ithaca’s east hill is open Christmas Eve until 6pm, closed on Christmas Day, then reopening at 6am on December 26th.
