According to the Ithaca Professional Fire Fighters Association, a helicopter landing zone was set up near East Hill Plaza shortly after 4pm, so the injured man could be airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

An Ithaca Fire Department official says the man fell “about 20 feet” from the second floor of a building under construction at the site and was “pretty badly hurt.”

Cornell University broke ground on a new 872-bed grad and professional student housing complex at the site of the former Maplewood Park Apartments in May.
