IPD says west end shooting victim and shooter knew each other

The Ithaca Police Department revealed on Monday afternoon that their investigation into a Sunday night shooting in Ithaca’s west end shows “the victim and suspect were associates.”

Investigators recovered several bullet casings at the scene, and are confident that “this incident is not random in nature.”

Their suspect is “a black male who was a passenger in a newer model BMW sedan, white in color.” Police say the BMW “left the area traveling east on West State Street.”

IPD asks that anyone who might know more about the shooting, or with other information that might aid their investigation, contact them through police dispatch at 607-272-3245, the administration line at 607-272-9973, the Crimestoppers Tipline at 607-697-0333, or the anonymous online tip form.
