Shots fired: one injured in west end, say Ithaca police

One man was injured and taken to a regional trauma center after a shooting tonight in Ithaca’s west end, according to the Ithaca Police Department. The incident occurred at about 7:20pm on a snowy Sunday evening.

Police responded to reports of shots fired on the 100 block of South Meadow Street, Route 13 in Ithaca’s west end, and soon found a male victim with a gunshot wound to his leg on the 600 block of West State Street.

Responding police officers provided trauma care, including application of a tourniquet to control the bleeding, according to an IPD statement, and the victim was transported to a regional trauma center. The shooting is still under investigation.
