Is Brunch Fest the most perfectly Ithaca event ever? Yes. Yes it is.

We like brunch. You like brunch. Nearly everyone likes brunch, at least if they’re being honest with themselves, and that may be why Ithaca has such great brunch variety. It’s also why the Downtown Ithaca Alliance is hosting the first-ever Ithaca Brunch Fest on the Commons this Saturday.

Brunch Fest looks like it’ll be more like the Apple Harvest Festival, with vendors offering items for sale, than like the Chili Cookoff, which lets you buy tickets to trade for samples. Organizers have encouraged participating eateries to offer $2 and $5 bites so you can try a little of everything, as well as full meals.

The weekend comfort food parade begins with biscuits and gravy from Simeon’s, waffles from Waffle Frolic, freshly prepared omelets and breakfast sandwiches from OmNomNomelettes, brunch offerings with an Irish spin from Kilpatrick’s, a modern take on brunch from Bandwagon Brewpub, and BBQ items like brisket bagels from Gateway BBQ Kitchen.

Several eateries will also be participating in a Bloody Mary Mix-Off, with non-alcoholic Bloody Mary samples available from Coltivare, Gateway BBQ Kitchen, Sunset Grill, Taste of Thai, and other local establishments. Event organizers will tally votes for best presentation and people’s choice awards.

Nearby, a brunch bar sponsored by Wagner Brewing & Vineyards will feature the company’s Hop Tropic IPA, Smoketober, and Coffee Porter, as well as a selection of wine including sparkling Riesling to make mimosas. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available, too, and Gimme! Coffee will be offering free samples of their new Downtown Ithaca Blend, as well as offering bags of coffee for sale.

Thanks to Keller Williams Ithaca Realty, Brunch Fest will have a Hat and Mitten Drive, so you can bring new or gently used cold-weather gear that will go to local schools for distribution to kids who need it.

Just want to relax on the Commons? Brunch Fest features a great line-up of music from 11:30am-4pm, with IC Voicestream & Premium Blend, Fall Creek Brass Band, Steve Southworth and the Rockabilly Rays, and the Town Squares on the schedule.

Ithaca Brunch Fest runs from 11am-4pm this Saturday, November 5th, on the Downtown Ithaca Commons.
