Route 96B (South Aurora Street) on Ithaca’s South Hill will be closed this Tuesday and Wednesday for repair and replacement of a blocked sewer line pipe, according to Ithaca officials. TCAT says two bus routes will be detoured.
Ithaca says they are installing new sewer line in the 600 block of South Aurora Street between Hillview Place and Grandview Avenue, across both southbound and northbound lanes. “Local residential and emergency access will be maintained, but through traffic will be detoured,” says the Department of Public Works in a statement. Detour signs will be posted.
Southbound traffic (uphill towards Ithaca College) will be detoured on Hudson Street, right onto Hudson Place, and right onto Coddington Road, then left onto 96B.
Northbound traffic (downhill from Ithaca College to downtown) will be detoured right onto Coddington Road, then left on Hudson Place and left on Hudson Street, then right to return to South Aurora Street near the Ithaca Marriott.
According to Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT), Route 65 during the day and Route 11 at night will detour on Hudson Street, Hudson Place, and Coddington Road.
Ithaca officials expect the work will be finished about 3:30pm on Wednesday, October 18.
