This Friday is the deadline to register to vote in the State of New York for next month’s general election, but it’s also the deadline to change your party enrollment for 2018!
If you’re not registered to vote in New York yet, paper applications must be postmarked by Friday, October 13 and received by the Board of Elections by October 18, and in-person registration must be done at the BOE or other state agency that takes voter registrations, like the DMV, by Friday, October 13.
If you’re registered and you need to change your address, file the notice by October 18 so it can be processed in time for election day on November 7.
If you’re registered to vote but you want to change your party affiliation so you can vote in a specific political party’s primary in 2018, next year, you have to do it by Friday, October 13, this year!
The Tompkins County Board of Elections is at 128 East Buffalo Street in Downtown Ithaca.
