“Thank you for five delicious years,” says an announcement from the owners of Smart Yogurt. The brightly colored self-serve yogurt shop in Ithaca’s southwest is closing in December.

“Our lease is expiring, and we’ve decided not to renew,” say the owners of Smart Yogurt, which opened early in 2012 in the same building as C.T. Bento (now Spicy Asian) and Miracle Nails.

The eatery makes its own flavored yogurts from fresh ingredients like imported green tea, and there are dozens of toppings to choose from, including candy bits, nuts, and fresh fruit.

“Look out for upcoming specials, product and equipment sales,” owners Matt Poole and Eric Boynton said in a Facebook post. “We want to thank all our guests, especially our regulars, for the loyal support that you have shown us.”

For a while, the company also operated a small kiosk at the Shops at Ithaca Mall, near Regal Cinema. Smart Yogurt’s last day of business will be December 15th.
