There’s a Chicken Fried Tuesday every week at Maxie’s Supper Club, but some Tuesdays, the popular restaurant in Ithaca’s west end dedicates the night to raising funds for a specific cause. This week, $5 from each special sold will be donated to the State Theatre of Ithaca.
Maxie’s specializes in southern and Cajun fare and seafood, and on Tuesdays only, they offer buttermilk-brined southern fried chicken dinners for $11.95. Tasso gravy is $1 extra, and it’s worth it. For vegetarians, the fundraiser includes the delicious house-smoked organic BBQ Tofu from Ithaca Soy, a dish even an omnivore can appreciate, as an alternative.
“Here’s a super-fun, easy and delicious way to support your non-profit State Theatre of Ithaca,” says executive director Doug Levine. The State Theatre will be using the funds raised at this event “to make some needed improvements to the main concession area located in the lobby.”
Maxie’s Supper Club frequently offers live music, though it’s no longer every Tuesday and every Sunday. This Tuesday’s fundraiser will feature musical entertainment by Ithaca’s own Hank Roberts. Hank will be playing from 6-9pm, with short breaks.
Dinner, along with the opportunity to donate $5 with each fried chicken or BBQ tofu dinner, begins at 4pm, and runs until 10:30pm or while supplies last. Maxie’s is donating an extra dollar for every pint or bottle of locally brewed Ithaca Beer or Ithaca Soda sold.
