“Guac the Vote” and get free guacamole when you register to vote Sunday

The deadline to register as a voter in the State of New York to vote in this fall’s general election is October 14, and our friends at the BiciCocina food truck want to make it easy. They’re offering free guacamole on Sunday if you register to vote or show your voter registration card!

BiciCocina will have voter registration forms at their bicycle food cart which will be out Sunday afternoon from 12-6pm along with both Streets Alive and this year’s No More Tears / No Mas Lagrimas Latino Multicultural Fesival, both on the south side of Ithaca.

Two city streets will be closed for Streets Alive, Plain Street from Green Street to Elmira Road and Clinton Street from Corn to Albany Street, on Sunday afternoon. The Latino Multicultural Festival will be at the Southside Community Center, at 305 South Plain Street.

The “Guac the Vote” movement has erupted nationwide, with taco trucks and similar eateries helping register voters, “in response to a comment made in support of a certain presidential candidate that if immigration keeps up the way it has been, there will be a taco truck on every corner,” according to our BiciCocina friends. “We don’t have a taco truck, but we do have a Bicycle Arepa Cart and we are joining in the fun!” There will also of course be delicious food for sale.

National Voter Registration Day is this Tuesday. October 14 will also be the last day this year to change your party affiliation for 2017 elections.
