For the fifth year, Cornell University says the public is welcome at Friday evening’s laser light and fireworks show. The program on Ithaca’s east hill is one of several events scheduled for Cornell’s Homecoming Weekend.
The family-friendly Friday evening show is scheduled from 7-9:30pm on September 23 at Schoellkopf Field, the university’s football stadium off Route 366. Before the fireworks start, the band Sparks the Rescue will be providing live music.
Free parking is available in most lots on campus after 5pm, including the Kite Hill parking area east of Schoellkopf and other lots between there and the B Lot near Cornell’s vet school. The Hoy Road parking garage won’t allow entry after 5pm on Friday, and exiting won’t be allowed from 7-10pm. Accessible parking with appropriate license plate or placard will be available in the crescent lot and in the lot between Bartels Hall and Friedman Wrestling Center.
Homecoming weekend will usher in some fall weather, with cooling temperatures by Friday’s fireworks show dropping to about 60°, and Saturday afternoon’s 3pm football game will be played in clear and cool weather.
