Yes, you can watch the Mayweather-McGregor fight in Ithaca

If you want to watch tonight’s Mayweather-McGregor fight in Ithaca without paying the $99.95 pay-per-view fee at home, there are three places you can go — but not for free.

While individuals can pony up the nearly $100 fee to watch, it’s much more expensive for bars, hotels, or other public places to show a pay-per-view event. We hear this one is north of $3,000 for a local sports bar, and it’s almost impossible to make back that kind of fee from the profits on beer and munchies. That’s why the usual suspects like Uncle Joe’s Grill on Green Street and Sports Bar and Jack’s Grill in Collegetown are opting out.

Buffalo Wild Wings in Ithaca’s southwest is showing the fight, along with hundreds of other BWW franchises, and they’re charging a $20 per person admission fee with the doors opening at 8pm. That doesn’t include food or drink; those are available at regular prices. (Everyone who wandered in for dinner earlier will have to skedaddle or pay the admission fee.) Buffalo Wild Wings is at 410 Elmira Road. If you’re not in Ithaca, see if your BWW is showing the fight.

Flynn’s Roadhouse in Lansing is showing the fight with a $25 cover charge — buy your bracelet any time after 4pm and come and go for the rest of the evening as you please. Marty Flynn says there will be five HD televisions, drink specials, pizza, wings, and door prizes. Flynn’s is at 1928 East Shore Drive in Lansing.

The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge is showing the fight, as well, but there’s a catch — you need to be a member or a guest of a member. That’s OK — if you don’t already know a Moose Lodge member, this is a great excuse to join the organization, which charges $40 annual dues, and then you can bring a guest yourself. The lodge can only sell alcohol to members, and they’ll have pizza available tonight for a suggested donation to the organization. The Loyal Order of Moose in Ithaca is at 367 Elmira Road, also in Ithaca’s southwest.

Want to watch at home? CNET has a good overview of how to get the event via cable, satellite, or streaming devices like Apple TV, Xbox One, Amazon Fire TV, or Roku.

Pre-match coverage of the fight from Las Vegas begins at about 8pm, and boxing champ Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor are set to enter the ring at 9pm EDT.
