The limited run of “Ithaca is Love” t-shirts sold out in less than an hour when area residents gathered on the Ithaca Commons for an aerial photo on June 30 to show support for Orlando, but shirts are now available online — through today!
City of Ithaca acting mayor Deb Mohlenhoff spearheaded the brainstorming gathering earlier in June and is helped promote the aerial photo. “We cobbled together our own personal resources to make this happen,” said Deb, who expected to run out of shirts. “Our hope was that this would spark a PRIDE movement in Ithaca and it certainly seems to have done that,” she says.
More t-shirts in the six colors of the pride rainbow are available through August 2 at 11:59pm. Place your order now at www.cayugaxpress.com by clicking on “Customer Stores” and then “Go,” next to the “Ithaca is Love” line. Youth sizes are available, which wasn’t true on June 30.
“The cost of shirts covers the cost for the product, shipping, and a small donation to the Ithaca is Love organization, which will be used for event planning and advocacy purposes,” says Deb.
