Detour: Game Farm Road closing for four months east of Ithaca

Game Farm Road in the Town of Dryden, between Dryden Road (Route 366) and Ellis Hollow Road, will be closed starting August 3rd for a major bridge reconstruction project. Officials say it will remain closed through November.

The project will make roadway, shoulder, and other improvements to the bridge, which takes Game Farm Road across Cascadilla Creek east of the Town of Ithaca.

Tompkins County public information officer Marcia Lynch says the county legislature awarded a contract to reconstruct the bridge to Economy Paving Company of Cortland. The company submitted a bid of $977,090.77.

Lynch says the county entered an arrangement with Cornell University for the school to contribute $250,000 towards the project. Cornell has agricultural and athletic facilities on Game Farm Road.

During the bridge project, facilities on Game Farm Road can be accessed from the north or south end. Through traffic should take Pine Tree Road or Turkey Hill Road.
