New album not enough? Gunpoets share an acoustic video from GrassRoots.

The new Gunpoets album “Bombs Away,” officially released at the GrassRoots Festival on Thursday night along with the band’s set, goes on sale more widely on Tuesday. Meantime, the Gunpoets released an impromptu video shot early Friday morning, an acoustic version of “Turn to Love.”

“I had a brilliant idea to shoot a video at 8am Friday at GrassRoots,” said guitarist Eliot Rich. “It actually turned out quite nice.” Most of the band got together on the Grandstand Stage and shot the song, which appears on the new album.

“Raw. Real. Acoustic,” says Dan Lisbe, aka Gunpoets vocalist Rising Sun. “Maybe sorta slightly hung over.” Dan tells us the videography is the work of “Hi-Def Jeff” Hodges.

“Bombs Away” went on sale Thursday night at the band’s GrassRoots set, and was available at the festival merchandise barn. Dan says the CD, featuring cover art by local artist Sandy Carr, will be in Ithaca-area stores beginning Tuesday, July 26th. He says the discs will be available at McNeil Music of Ithaca, downtown on West Green Street; Ithaca Guitar Works in the Dewitt Mall; and at GreenStar Cooperative Market in the west end.

Fans can also check online for “Bombs Away” beginning Tuesday. Gunpoets albums are available on Bandcamp, iTunes, and Amazon.
