IPD held their first community BBQ last October in the same spot, with an early fall chill in the air. This Saturday should be warm and sunny!

“I’m excited beyond words to connect and reconnect with the folks in our community,” said Chief of Police John R. Barber about the community BBQ idea. Chief Barber also hosted several community coffee hours last year where he and Mayor Svante Myrick went to area coffee shops to meet with community members.

“People in Ithaca need to know who the police officers are that are protecting and serving them,” said Mayor Myrick last fall.

IPD says area businesses who are donating items for the BBQ include Walmart, Wegmans, Maxie’s Supper Club, Collegetown Bagels, Joe’s Restaurant, Rogan’s Corner, Buffalo Wild Wings, John Thomas Steakhouse, Lowes, Dunkin’ Donuts, Texas Roadhouse, Home Depot, Purity Ice Cream, Shortstop Deli, Ithaca Bakery, Mahogany Grill, Viva Taqueria, Domino’s Pizza, and Uncle Joe’s.

The BBQ will be from noon to 3 this Saturday, July 16, at Southside Community Center.
