Police looking for answers after Ithaca dispute ends in gunfire

Ithaca police say a dispute on Ithaca’s northside ended in a handgun being fired, and they’re hoping community members will come forward with information about the suspect.

Police say officers responded to the area of Lake Avenue and Willow Avenue along Cascadilla Creek at 12:34 Saturday afternoon after reports of a dispute that had ended with a handgun being discharged.

Officers spoke to multiple witnesses and recovered one handgun shell casing. A search did not turn up a suspect or any victim. Witnesses described the shooter as a black male in his early 20s, about 5’10” and 180 pounds, last seen wearing a dark colored shirt and black and white basketball-type shorts.
