Man arrested for attempted purse snatching on Cornell campus

Cornell Police say an Enfield man faces multiple charges after trying to rob a woman’s purse on Ho Plaza on Friday night, thanks to a quick response by CUPD. The incident took place at about 8:30pm on June 23 near Cornell’s Uris Library.

Cornell University PoliceAccording to CUPD, a female victim reported that a male subject “engaged her in conversation and subsequently attempted to take her purse by force.” He was unsuccessful and fled the scene. The victim was not injured, police say.

Cornell Police officers were able to locate the subject soon after the victim reported the attempted robbery, and they identified him as Edrick Acosta Ramos, 23, of Enfield.

Ramos was charged with third degree attempted robbery and second degree harassment, and is scheduled to appear in Ithaca City Court the morning of July 12.
