A young cat shot with a crossbow bolt in Dryden last week is back at the SPCA after successful surgery, and already has an adopter waiting to take her home, according to the SPCA of Tompkins County.

The injured cat was spotted last Tuesday in the Little Creek Trailer Park in the Town of Dryden, and humane officers from the SPCA found her the next day. After being medically evaluated at the SPCA, the cat was sent to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals to have the arrow surgically removed from her head and shoulder.

Now that she’s recovering back at the SPCA, the injured cat has an adopter lined up. Rachel, a vet student who learned of her while she was still at Cornell’s animal hospital, will be taking her home once she’s ready.

The SPCA asks that anyone with information about the incident contact Animal Control at 607-319-5067. Anyone who’d like to help cover the cost of the cat’s surgery can donate online.
