A pair of free clinics are coming up next week, in Ithaca and Corning, to help transgender, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people learn how to legally change their names and gender markers on identity documents.
Out for Health, Planned Parenthood’s LGBT health and wellness program, is cohosting the clinics along with Legal Assistance of Western New York, Inc., Ithaca is Love, and other area agencies. Participants will be able to meet with an attorney or law student at no cost, who’ll help them complete legal name change petitions or other documents.
The free events are taking place in Ithaca on Thursday afternoon, June 29 at 3pm at Planned Parenthood at 620 West Seneca Street, and in Corning on Friday afternoon, June 30 at 3pm at Southeast Steuben County Public Library at 300 Nasser Civic Center Plaza.
To register ahead and help them plan, call Legal Assistance of Western New York, Inc. at 877-776-4126, though drop-ins are welcome and will be taken care of on a first-come, first-served basis.
