The City of Ithaca is working on improving pedestrian access to south hill, and Hudson Street will be closed starting July 5 for about two weeks.
The city is installing new sidewalks on Hudson Street along the stretch from Pennsylvania Avenue to Coddington Road “to provide safer pedestrian travel,” as well as repairing portions of the street.
The project was supposed to start in mid May and be finished at the end of June, but was delayed, and the road closure was going to be June 19-30.
Until July 5, city crews are closing one lane at a time with flaggers to direct traffic.
From July 5-21, Hudson Street will be completely closed from Coddington Road to Hudson Place. Drivers should detour to South Aurora Street or Hudson Place.
