Ithaca police looking for answers in baseball bat brawl

The Ithaca Police Department says they were called to the scene of a “reported physical dispute” in Ithaca’s west end late last night, and they’re looking for the people responsible.

According to a statement from IPD Sergeant Matt Cowen, officers responded to the area of West State Street and Plain Street at 1:05am after learning of the “dispute involving several subjects.” The responding officers learned that “some of the subjects involved were armed with baseball bats.”

Three injured men at the scene all had head injuries consistent with having been “struck in the head with a hard object.” One man was treated and released at the scene by Bangs Ambulance personnel, and the other two victims were transported to Cayuga Medical Center for further treatment.

Police say the suspects had fled the scene prior to their arrival, “but were described as a white male wearing a hat and/or a Hispanic man with a pony tail wearing a black t-shirt.”

IPD asks that anyone who might know more about the incident, or with other information that might aid their investigation, contact them through police dispatch at 607-272-3245, the administration line at 607-272-9973, the Crimestoppers Tipline at 607-697-0333, or the anonymous online tip form.
