This week, 14850 Dining is looking forward to experiencing some of the fine food and drink produced in the Finger Lakes at this Sunday’s Experience the Finger Lakes Culinary Festival! It’s a chance to explore lots of regional producers without leaving Downtown Ithaca.
Sunday afternoon on the Commons, over twenty local wine, cider, beer, cheese, meats, and sweet treats producers will be offering tastings. It’s hosted by the Experience the Finger Lakes folks, who run sightseeing tours and tasting tours throughout the Ithaca and Central New York area.
Organizers have strategically paired food and beverage booths, and each producer will also be selling their products to take home.
Some of our favorite beverage producers will be there, like Hopshire Farm Brewing and Six Mile Creek Vineyard, Finger Lakes Distilling and Finger Lakes Cider House, and it’s also a chance to check out Bet the Farm Winery and Barry Family Cellars.
Try cheeses from Lively Run and charcuterie from the Piggery, as well as sweets from Emmy’s Organics and Life’s So Sweet Chocolates. Even coffees and teas.
Ticket packs start with a ten-pack of tasting trio tickets for $25, available online in advance, and more tickets will be for sale at the event. Compared to common $5 tasting fees at each stop along the trail, this offers a good combination of value and convenience.
If there’s severe weather, they’ll move into the Hotel Ithaca ballroom, and ticket sales will be very limited. Organizers say they may have to cap attendance at tickets already sold, but check in just in case.
The Culinary Festival includes a cooking demonstration and cocktail making demonstration at the Bernie Milton Pavilion, and a VIP Culinary Experience hosted at Coltivare for an extra ticket price will offer expert cooking demonstrations and wine or dessert pairing presentations in the Coltivare Amphitheatre.
