If you’ll be outside this afternoon, protect yourself from the high UV index with sunscreen and sunglasses! The UV index will be a “very high” 9 by about 1pm.
Wearing a shade-providing hat or plenty of sunscreen and UV-protecting sunglasses is important if you’ll be out for more than 15 or 20 minutes when the UV index is so high.
The temperature is already in the 80s and heading towards 90. “A few places may challenge record highs,” says Drew Montreuil of Finger Lakes Weather. Ithaca’s record high for this date is 91°, set in 1973.
Drew says relief will come in the form of “a cold front that will sink south across the Finger Lakes on Tuesday morning.” Cooler air will move in on Tuesday afternoon, he says.
