Call it an embarrassment of Ithaca Farmers Market riches. With their traditional location at Steamboat Landing bursting at the seams with vendors on Saturdays and Sundays, the Ithaca Farmers Market kicks off the sixth season of its Wednesday market tonight.
There’s also long been a downtown market on Tuesday mornings at Dewitt Park, and last year the Ithaca Farmers Market kicked off its new “night market” on Thursdays at Steamboat Landing, with a family-friendly, laid-back vibe.
Wednesday afternoon’s markets feature several farm stands with seasonal, fresh produce and local meats, eggs, and dairy, but it also has a few prepared-food vendors, such as Sadya Snacks, offering Indian street food. (They’ll be there on Wednesdays starting later this season.)
It’s conveniently right across the street from both Agava Restaurant and East Hill Plaza. The latter has the locally owned P&C Fresh supermarket, which makes it easy to do all your food shopping with one visit to east hill.
The Wednesday afternoon Ithaca Farmers Market is open from 4-7pm on Pine Tree Road, Wednesdays from June through October. The Thursday market starts at the end of June.
