The signs have popped up along the parade route, reminding us there’s no parking along Cayuga Street on Friday afternoon for the Ithaca Festival Parade. Festival organizers say $5 event parking is in effect for the Downtown Ithaca garages this weekend.
North Cayuga Street is a tow away zone this Friday from 4-9pm. Any cars left on the street will be towed at the owner’s expense to make way for the Ithaca Festival Parade! Festival organizers say cross streets in the north end of town will also be closed off for parade staging purposes. Check for Ithaca DPW No Parking signs like this one and obey them!
Cayuga Street adjacent to the Ithaca Commons will also be closed through the weekend for food and craft vendors, as will the block of West State Street west of the Commons.
As always, parking downtown is available in the City-owned parking garages on Seneca Street, Green Street, and Cayuga Street, but as always on a big event weekend, there’s a $5/day “event parking fee” if you’d like to use the garage.
The Downtown Ithaca Alliance tells us that if you have a parking permit for one of these garages, you will be able to use it! Seneca and Green Street garage parkers can use token tickets, too. Bring cash with you — the paystations in the garages won’t be operating, and the attendants may not be able to take credit cards.
Event parking fees will be collected from 9:30am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Regular parking rates apply on Friday. On-street parking is free for the weekend as always, but obey any No Parking signs you see, and now that most of the parking meters have vanished, be careful not to accidentally park in the way of someone’s driveway.
