The Tompkins County Veterans Committee is hosting their annual Memorial Day service and ceremony at 11am on Monday near the War Memorial at Dewitt Park, which is at the corner of North Cayuga Street and East Buffalo Street. “All are welcome to come and honor all those that paid the ultimate sacrifice, but especially our own from Tompkins County,” according to organizers.

The Ithaca Veterans Peace Council is hosting a 6pm event on Monday “to quietly remember the losses of war.” Organizer Jim Murphy says veterans and civilians, adults and children, are all welcome at the event, which will include “poetry, readings, remembrances, and Pete Seeger songs.”

Many stores and eateries have reduced hours on Monday in observance of the holiday, and TCAT buses will not be running at all on Memorial Day.
