Officers from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department and Ithaca Police Department’s SWAT team and investigations division arrested two suspects after serving a search warrant at a Shore Drive home early this morning.
According to a release from IPD, officers served a search warrant at about 4:45am on Tuesday at 8 Shore Drive, a home in the Town of Dryden east of the Ithaca airport.
Police say the officers “secured the residence and three occupants, two of which were the defendants, Taurean J. Matthews and Kristen E. Weber.” Matthews, 26, and Weber, 21, each had outstanding warrants for their arrest.
A search of the residence and the defendants located “a large quantity of an unknown substance packaged as if prepared for narcotic sales.” IPD says the substance will be sent to the state crime lab for identification. Items “indicative of narcotics sales” such as packaging materials and scales were also found.
Charges are pending results from the state crime lab, according to IPD, and Matthews has been turned over to the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office on an outstanding bench warrant. Weber is being held at the Ithaca Police Department awaiting arraignment “for a violation of a probation warrant,” according to IPD.
