The 400 block of North Aurora Street will be closed on Thursday and Friday, May 12th and 13th, for hydrant replacement work, according to the City of Ithaca. The work could lead to a water outage in the area.
Aurora Street will be closed to traffic in both directions between Court Street and Farm Street, on the northeast edge of Downtown Ithaca. Officials from Ithaca’s Water & Sewer Division say one lane will be reopened after hours on Thursday evening for access to the affected block, so residents will be able to get to their homes.
The hydrant work will necessitate shutting off water supply to the area. “If you experience a water shut-off, please be patient while they work to get the water back,” say Ithaca officials. “Once it returns, to clear your lines from the disturbance, run your cold water faucets until they run clear.”
Drivers can get around the closed area on North Tioga Street or Linn Street.
