Greek food galore at this weekend’s Taste of Greece festival

Greek salad is just the beginning as St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Downtown Ithaca hosts their annual Taste of Greece in Ithaca Greek Festival. Traditional entrees and pastries are also on the menu.

Greek Salad and stuffed grape leaves. With plenty of food choices for meat-eaters and vegetarians, the menu features dolmathes, or stuffed grape leaves, with or without seasoned meat; lamb and beef gyro pitas; baked pastitsio (think Greek lasagna); roasted chicken and potatoes; and spanikopita, or layered spinach and feta pastry.

Sweet treat offerings include baklava, rice pudding, and warm loukoumathes, or fried honey puffs! The church gift shop will be open as well, for last-minute Mothers Day gifts.

The festival at the Greek Orthodox Church at 120 West Seneca Street (at the intersection of Geneva Street near Shortstop Deli) runs Friday from 3-8pm and again Saturday from 11am-8pm.
