Ithaca police say a man was mugged late Friday just off Buffalo Street

The Ithaca Police Department says a man was mugged late Friday night on Schuyler Place, near East Buffalo Street. Cornell police have sent a warning to the campus community about the crime.

A statement from Sgt. Loretta Tomberelli says the victim reported he was “shoved to the ground, punched and kicked in the head and body while on the ground,” by four black males who approached him on Schuyler Place, a narrow east hill street between Collegetown and Downtown Ithaca.

After the man gave the attackers cash from his pocket, they left the area heading south on Schuyler Place towards East State Street. Police say he handed over about $85. He sustained minor injuries and was transported by Bangs Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

According to IPD, “the suspects are reported to be 4 black males, all between 5’11”-6’2” tall, one wearing a red hoodie style sweatshirt, one wearing a white hoodie style sweatshirt, one wearing a dark color hoodie style sweatshirt, and the fourth an unknown color hoodie style sweatshirt. All were reported to be wearing jeans.”

In recent weeks, a woman was robbed of her wallet in downtown Ithaca, and an elderly woman was mugged on the way home from church on Easter Sunday,
