Ithaca Police investigating car vs pedestrian collision

The Ithaca Police Department says they’re investigating the circumstances after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in a rainy parking lot in Ithaca’s southwest on Thursday afternoon.

According to a statement from Lt. Scott N. Garin of the IPD late Thursday night, police were called to the Ithaca Shopping Plaza at about 5:35pm that afternoon. “Officers assisted as Bangs Ambulance and Ithaca Fire Department personnel treated the victim,” according to Garin.

Police officers were able to identify the vehicle and driver who had been involved “and are continuing to investigate the circumstances.” No charges have been filed yet.

Garin says the pedestrian, who IPD public information officer Jamie Williamson tells us is a 60-year-old woman from Ithaca, “was transported to a trauma center with serious physical injuries.”
