Broome County Executive Debbie Preston confirmed to us that “Bernie Sanders will be holding an event at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena on Monday.” The Sanders campaign has already confirmed the candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination will be speaking at 4pm Monday at the University at Buffalo Alumni Arena.
The Sanders campaign says the doors at the Maines Arena, formerly the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena, will open at 7am for an event that will begin at about 10am. We have confirmed that Sanders is also speaking Tuesday in Rochester and Syracuse.
Tickets are not required for Sanders events, but admission is first-come, first-served. RSVPs are suggested at berniesanders.com. Organizers ask attendees to limit what they bring to small personal items like keys and cell phones, and leave bags at home or in their cars. Weapons, sharp objects, chairs, and signs or banners on sticks will not be allowed through security.
Over the last week and a half, nearly 3,000 people have signed a petition suggesting Sanders should speak in Ithaca.
