Coming home: Ithaca born X Ambassadors will host Stewart Park festival

The X Ambassadors, a multiple-platinum rock band with Ithaca roots that hit it big two years ago, are returning once again, hosting the Cayuga Sound festival at Stewart Park this fall.

You’ve probably heard some tunes from their breakout album “VHS” even if you didn’t know it, like “Renegades,” “Unsteady,” and “Jungle.” If you’ve heard a Jeep commercial in the last couple of years, that’s their song “Renegades” backing it up. They’ve also been back to Ithaca a couple of times since they exploded, including a private show at Belle Sherman Elementary School, where band members went as kids.

The band is curating an all-day festival on Saturday, September 23 with acts like The Roots, K. Flay, Tei Shi, Sammus, Izzy True, and local faves Stone Cold Miracle, and they’ll cap off the show themselves. Of course there will be food for sale featuring local chefs and flavors, and Ithaca Beer is hosting a beer and wine tent featuring local libations.

Friday September 22 will feature a special acoustic show and dinner at the Ithaca Beer Taproom for VIP ticket holders, plus shows at nearby venues.

Tickets for the festival and associated shows will go on sale at 10am Friday at cayugasoundfestival.com.
