CUPD says they arrested April Mace, 31, of Savona, and Richard Huyler, 39, of Corning on Friday, and they were remanded to Tompkins County Jail on fourth-degree charges of possession of stolen property, and they “are awaiting hearings on felony charges.”

Police announced late Thursday night that they were investigating a rash of thefts of unattended backpacks between 3-10pm on Thursday the 16th, and were asking for help identifying the people seen in surveillance video carrying other people’s stuff.

Mace was being held on ,000 cash bail or ,000 bond, and Huyler was remanded to jail without bail. Police say they recovered “a quantity of stolen property” and will be in touch with owners so it can be returned.

CUPD urges campus residents and visitors to “take steps to protect yourself and your property by not leaving backpacks or other personal property unattended and unsecured.”
