Cornell now closed until 4:30pm, though roads have reopened

Cornell was scheduled to reopen at noon today, but will reopen at 4:30pm instead. Sheriff Ken Lansing lifted the road closure for Tompkins County as of 6am, and most TCAT bus service has resumed this morning, but most area schools are closed for Wednesday.

Gusty winds through the day Wednesday could create significant blowing and drifting of snow, and whiteout conditions, even if there isn’t much more snow. Light to moderate snow is expected to continue through the day. The county is still under a travel advisory. Avoid driving if you can.

TC3 and Ithaca College are closed for the day. Tompkins County government offices will reopen at 10am.

City of Ithaca offices, the Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC), and the Ithaca Youth Bureau will be closed for a second day. Trash collection is suspended in the City of Ithaca for Wednesday, and will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

Loaves & Fishes and Foodnet Meals on Wheels are both closed today. If you have elderly neighbors, please take a moment to check on them and make sure they have something to eat!

TCAT says they will provide limited Route 82 service starting at 1:05pm (departing A Lot) with trips running every half hour for the remainder of the day. There will be no Route 81 service today. Tonight, Route 11 will run modified service starting from Seneca Street Station at 8:27pm; 9:27pm; 10:27pm; 11:27pm; 12:27am; and 1:27am. Route 90, 92 and 93 are scheduled to operate regular service tonight, though TCAT may need to place Routes 92 and 93 on snow detours. Expect delays even on routes that are operating.

Ithaca College is already on spring break, but Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) says students in the residence halls can still get meals at the TC3 Eatery from 10am to 2pm on an emergency closing day.

The Tompkins County Recycling & Solid Waste Center will reopen at 10am today. There will be no curbside recycling on Wednesday, and curbside pickup for the remainder of the week will be a day late. Any recycling that wasn’t picked up on Tuesday won’t be collected until the next regularly scheduled pickup day. Residents can bring their recyclables to the county facility at 160 Commercial Ave.
