Cat video fest at Cornell Cinema will benefit SPCA of Tompkins County

You’re already watching cat videos on the Internet. Why not join Cornell Cinema this weekend to watch some of the best-ever cat videos with friends, for a good cause?

Actually Cornell insists they have only human projectionists. Photo provided.

Last year’s first Internet Cat Video Festival at Cornell was so popular that they had to turn people away, so this year they’ve scheduled two showings – Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 2pm. Even better, this year 10% of the proceeds will go to the SPCA of Tompkins County.

The new Cat Video Fest reel assembled by Will Braden, the creator of the Henri Le Chat Noir videos, features about 100 cat videos in categories like Comedy, Drama, Animated, Musical, Action, Vintage, and Documentary.

Cornell Cinema says cat video expert Leah Shafer will be the Mistress of Purremonies for both shows, and Cornell Feline Health Center director Bruce Kornreich will be a special guest at Friday’s showing.

The shows are cosponsored by Cat’s Pajamas, a kid-focused store in Downtown Ithaca, and the Cornell Feline Health Center. There will be kitty trivia, name-that-kitty-tune, cat masks, kitty candy, and more.

Tickets range from $4.50 to $5.50 for the Saturday matinee and from $6 to $9 for Friday’s showing, and they’re available in advance at CornellCinemaTickets.com.
