Several area schools closed as winter storm tapers off

Forecasters have reduced their snow totals for the storm that blew through the area overnight, and as the snow tapers off, several area school districts have decided to close. Ithaca schools remain open this morning.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton forecasts just 1-2 inches of additional snow for Monday, “heaviest and steadiest across northern zones downwind from the Lake.” Strong winds will continue this morning, they say, before easing this afternoon.
