Three charged in Lansing shoplifting cases, says Tompkins Sheriff

Sheriff’s deputies report three shoplifting arrests, of Jaci Rumsey at the Tops Friendly Markets on North Triphammer Road and Tyler C. Alden and Gayathri Ganesan at Target at the Shops at Ithaca Mall.

Alden was charged with petit larceny after asset protection staff reported seeing a male steal “an electronic item” from the Target store at the Shops at Ithaca Mall. The 21-year-old was released on an appearance ticket. Later the same day, Gayathri Ganesan was charged with petit larceny and released on an appearance ticket after store personnel reportedly “observed a female steal a beauty product from the store and leave without paying for the item.”

Rumsey was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property after deputies responded to Tops Friendly Markets on North Triphammer Road for a reported trespass. Deputies located and identified Rumsey and determined she had stolen merchandise on her person. She was arraigned in Town of Lansing Court and remanded to Tompkins County Jail.
