Missing: 17-month-old Stanley boy last seen with father, believed endangered

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office has issued a missing child alert for 17-month-old Glenn David Newswanger, who was last seen with his father Leroy Newswanger late Thursday morning. The child is believed to be endangered.

Update: Authorities have canceled the missing child alert, and we understand that Glenn and his father were found Friday afternoon, and both are safe.

The boy is from Stanley, an Ontario County hamlet near the northwest corner of Seneca Lake, about an hour and a quarter from Ithaca. He was last seen with his father, who was driving a 2005 blue Chevy Silverado pickup truck with a blue cap over the bed and New York plates 88359MJ.

The alert, issued Thursday night, covers a wide portion of Central New York, the Southern Tier, and the Finger Lakes. Officials have not said if they believe Newswanger is headed to a particular area.

Glenn, who’s about two feet tall and 25 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, was last seen wearing tan khaki pants, black sneakers, plaid shirt, and a navy winter coat.
