Ithaca woman charged with shoplifting at Tops supermarket

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department says a 31-year-old Ithaca woman was charged with two counts of petit larceny on Tuesday afternoon after she was observed stealing items from the Tops supermarket on North Triphammer Road in the Village of Lansing.

Sheriff’s deputies responding to the store at about 4:36pm interviewed loss protection officers at Tops  who said they observed Lisa E. Wapen stealing several grocery items from the store without making any attempt to pay for the items.

The loss prevention team at Tops also alleged that Wapen was the same woman who had stolen from the store on January 23 but had fled before sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene. She was not identified at the time.

Wapen was processed and released on appearance tickets to return to Town of Lansing Court.
