This week, we’re celebrating Taco Tuesday at the Bickering Twins pop-up dinners at the Lincoln Street Diner. They first tried it last August, then went weekly in September, and now they’ve added Thursday and Saturday taco nights at the Carriage House Café.
For first taco night, Lincoln Street Diner, which is usually just open for breakfast and lunch six days a week, had a line out the door until they ran out of food. Now that it’s weekly and they’ve improved the process, it’s easy to get in and get dinner on Tuesday nights.
The Bickering Twins Taco Tuesdays offer hand-pressed tortillas cooked to order, each taco sporting a choice of fillings for $3.50, three tacos for $9.50, or a platter for $13 with three tacos plus rice and two sides, like rice, beans, or smashed plantains.
The fillings have included lamb barbacoa, garlic shrimp, Yucatan baked chicken, chipotle BBQ pork, and vegetarian options like corn, poblano, and squash; even roasted carrot with jalapeño garlic puree. Some weeks offer empanadas, dessert specials, and other treats.
The Bickering Twins — and yes, they really do bicker while they cook — are a catering company with a mix of traditional and modern Latin American cuisines. They’ve done other pop-up dinners around town, but Taco Tuesday lets everyone enjoy a taco or three. Just stop by the Lincoln Street Diner from 5-8pm Tuesdays, at 309 East Lincoln Street, or visit the Loft on the second floor of the Carriage House from 6-11pm Thursdays and Saturdays, at 305 Stewart Avenue.
