Ithaca Police “gathering evidence” after Quik Shoppe robbery

Police are investigating after being called to the scene of an armed robbery at the Quik Shoppe on Ithaca’s northside early on Sunday evening. According to an IPD statement, “a suspect entered the Quik Shoppe, approached the counter, and then asked the clerk for all of the money in the register while displaying a handgun that was tucked into his pants waistband.”

According to IPD, the clerk described the suspect as a black male, about 5’7″ tall, slim build, wearing a ski mask, dark colored pants, jacket, and shoes. After the clerk handed over an undetermined amount of money, the suspect fled on foot in the direction of the nearby Bowl-O-Drome bowling alley.

On Third Street just off Route 13, in a plaza that also features Cornerstone Vet, Istanbul Turkish Kitchen, and the Tompkins County Department of Motor Vehicles, the Quik Shoppe is a convenience store and gas station that was Sunny’s Convenience until about three years ago.

Police are also investigating recent robberies at the Byrne Dairy and Shortstop Deli convenience stores, and Top Shelf Liquors.

IPD asks that anyone who has information that might aid their investigation contact them through police dispatch at 607-272-3245, the administration line at 607-272-9973, the police tipline at 607-697-0333, or the anonymous online tip form.
