A $500 reward announced last month for tips that lead to finding Nicole Marranca is now up to $1,000, and family and friends are planning a search party to go out looking next weekend. Nicole’s 28th birthday was last month.
“If the weather cooperates,” according to a Facebook event page, the search party will start in “the Jungle,” the natural area behind Ithaca’s big-box stores that has been used as a homeless encampment. The search is scheduled for 10am-2pm on Saturday, January 13. Organizers suggest dressing for cold weather, and don’t recommend children under 18 participate.
The Ithaca Police Department reached out to the public for help in early September, just over a week after receiving a missing person report. At the time, IPD said they had “exhausted all leads in this case and are requesting assistance from the public,” according to a statement.
Police say the family of Nicole Dawn Marranca filed the missing person report “after they had not spoken with her in several days,” so Marranca may not have been heard from in at least two weeks by that point. She may have last been seen in Ithaca around August 17th or 18th, police said in a statement.
Marranca is 5 feet four inches in height and weighs about 120 pounds, with dark blonde hair, blue eyes, a small to medium build, and a red, white, and blue Grateful Dead skull tattoo on her back. She also goes by “CJ.”
According to the Find Nicole Marranca page on Facebook, she had been seen at the Economy Inn on Elmira Road in Ithaca, and “may have left with a Caucasian male in a black pickup truck.” She may also have been seen at the Old Goat Gear Exchange in downtown Ithaca.
The monetary reward will be granted “if the tip leads to her being found/brought back to her family,” according to the Facebook page. “Tips that do not lead to bringing police to Nicole will not be granted any funds.”
