Cold weather is soup weather, and 14850 Dining is ready with some of Ithaca’s finest soup offerings to help us all warm up this winter.
Gorgers Subs makes some of the tastiest sandwiches in town, but they also have great soups, and there’s nearly always a vegan option. Buffalo chicken chowder, tomato bisque, and butternut squash soup are some favorites.
The Ithaca Ale House on Restaurant Row is known for their beer and their burgers, but they also have an excellent daily soup on the specials board, like Cajun crab & corn bisque or white bean chili, as well as their all-the-time six-onion soup, topped with melted cheese and an onion ring.
Saigon Kitchen on West State Street has excellent pho, a hearty Vietnamese soup, with beef or chicken broth in several varieties, as well as a vegetarian version made with broccoli, red peppers, and tofu.
If you like food in parking lots, hit the Circus Truck on Ithaca’s west end for fresh pasta or breakfast sandwiches, or hearty soups like pork & bean noodle, chorizo & potato, or mushroom & bean.
The Lincoln Street Diner almost always has a couple of soups on the specials board, such as tomato florentine, chicken chorizo, or on Fridays, an excellent clam chowder. Don’t miss the frequent chili offerings, often made with tender chunks of brisket.
The brand new Bōl on the Ithaca Commons has ramen and rice noodle bowls among their bowl offerings, with vegetable broth, chicken and pork broth, or coconut red curry.
Ithaca Bakery and Collegetown Bagels outlets always have rotating soups, as does the Coal Yard Cafe on Maple Ave. Try their soup and half sandwich special.
And at Shortstop Deli there’s a rotating selection of hot soup, chili, and macaroni & cheese ready to go all day!
Temper that Ithaca chill this week with some hot soup at one of these tasty establishments, and tell them you heard about them here.
